Drop2QR App - How your data is handled and protected.

Effective date: 16 May 2026  ·  Version: 1.0.0.0  ·  Publisher: Hasnain Butt Akhtar

1. Overview

Drop2QR is a Windows desktop app that generates and scans QR codes for URLs, Wi-Fi networks, contact cards, calendar events, payments, files and more - styled with custom shapes, colours, gradients and logos.

Drop2QR performs all generation, scanning and rendering locally on your device and does not transmit personal data to Hasnain Studio X.

We do not sell, share, or monetize user data.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

Drop2QR does not collect or send the following to the developer:

Identity Data

Name, email, phone number, or personal identity data.

QR Content Upload

URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and other payloads you encode are never uploaded to our servers.

Telemetry

No analytics, ad tracking, or third-party telemetry SDKs are used.

Sensitive System Data

No password, credential, keychain, or hidden account data is collected.

Camera Imagery

Webcam frames captured by the Scanner are decoded locally and discarded; no images leave your device.

Wi-Fi Profiles

Saved Wi-Fi profiles read from your PC stay on your PC; we never transmit SSIDs, passwords or auth types off-device.

3. Data Stored Locally

History & Favourites

QR codes you generate or favourite are stored in a local LiteDB database under your per-user application data folder.

Brand Palettes

Saved colour palettes and recently-used colours are written to a plain JSON file on your device.

Trial / License State

A signed local file records when your 1-day trial began. Microsoft Store entitlement is queried via the Windows.Services.Store API; entitlement state is held in memory only.

App Settings

UI preferences such as the global hotkey, Mica backdrop choice and clipboard-watcher state are stored in settings.json next to the database.

Exports

PNG, JPEG, SVG and PDF exports are created only when you explicitly export, and are written to the location you choose (default: Documents/Drop2QR).

4. Network Activity

Drop2QR declares the internetClient capability and uses the network only for user-initiated, opt-in actions:

  • Address geocoding on the Location page - only when you press “Resolve”.
  • Microsoft Store calls for license refresh and the durable add-on purchase flow.

A Local-only mode toggle in Settings disables all network features for air-gapped operation.

5. Microsoft Store Purchases

Drop2QR offers a Microsoft Store durable add-on (Drop2QR Pro, Store ID 9N149L0H2Z35) for one-time lifetime access. Payment and transaction processing are handled by the Microsoft Store under Microsoft policies.

Drop2QR does not process or store payment card details.

6. App Permissions

internetClient

Used only for opt-in geocoding and the Microsoft Store purchase / restore flow.

Webcam

Required only when you use the Scanner page. The OS prompts on first use; you can revoke at any time in Windows Settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Drop2QR is intended for general productivity users and is not directed to children under 13.

8. Policy Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date and version on this page.
