Privacy Policy

EarthOS is developed by Hasnain Studio X with a local-first, privacy-first design philosophy.

• We do not collect personal data.
• We do not operate any server, so nothing is ever sent to us.
• We do not use telemetry, analytics or advertising of any kind.
• We do not sell, share, or monetize user data.

EarthOS replaces your desktop with a live map, so it does request map squares for the part of the world you are looking at from third-party mapping providers. Those requests identify only the square being drawn, never you, and squares you have already seen are kept on your device so the map keeps working offline. Section 5 lists every outbound request in full.

Personal Identity Data

No name, email, phone number, address, or identifiers. The app has no account and no sign-in.

Usage Data or Analytics

No telemetry, crash analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. The app ships with no third-party analytics libraries of any kind.

Your Content and Activity

Your home place, saved layout, downloads, clipboard history and anything you type into the shell stay on your device. They are never uploaded and we never see them.

Sensitive System Data

No passwords, tokens, credentials, browsing history, or system logs. The list of your programs and open windows that the taskbar shows is read on your device and never sent anywhere.

Precise Location

EarthOS never uses GPS or any device location service. It asks once, on first run only, which town your connection appears to be in so the map opens somewhere familiar. That single request is described in section 5, and you can change or override the result at any time.

We do not run servers for this app, so no data can reach us even by accident.

App Settings

Your accent, home place, surface choice, map options and the positions of the desktop cards are saved locally on your device only.

Your Downloads and Files

Files you download are written wherever you chose to save them. The transfer queue is kept locally so a paused download can resume later.

Map Square Cache

Map squares you have already looked at are cached on disk so revisiting a place is fast, uses less data, and keeps working with no connection. The cache is capped and you can clear it at any time from Settings.

Browsing Profile

The built-in browser keeps its own cookies and cache in the app's folder, separate from your system browser. Clipboard history is deliberately never written to disk; it is held in memory for the session and is gone when the shell closes.

Local Trial or Licence State

Managed entirely by the Microsoft Store. The app reads it locally; we receive nothing.

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

EarthOS is a paid app with a free trial managed by the Microsoft Store. All licensing, payments, and transactions are handled exclusively by Microsoft.

Map Squares

The map requests squares for the part of the world on screen from third-party mapping providers, for the satellite surface, the street surface, and the night lights layer when it is switched on. Each request identifies only the square being drawn.

Finding a Place

Many places are answered from a list built into the app with no request at all. When you type somewhere it does not already know, the name you typed is sent to a third-party place lookup service to turn it into coordinates.

One First-Run Lookup

The very first time EarthOS runs it asks a third-party service which town your connection appears to be in, so the map opens somewhere that means something to you. It happens once, the answer is saved locally as a place name and coordinates, and the lookup is never repeated. If it fails, the map simply opens on the world view.

Pages and Downloads You Ask For

The built-in browser requests the pages you open from those websites, and downloads are fetched from the address you supplied. Those sites see what any browser would send them and are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

What These Requests Contain

A map square reference, a place name you typed, or an address you opened. Nothing else. No account, no identifier, and nothing about you is attached. As with any internet request your IP address is visible to the provider serving it, which is how the internet works and is not something we collect, log or receive.

Never Sent

Your settings, saved home place, desktop layout, clipboard history, downloaded files and the readings shown on the desktop are never included in any request and never leave your device.

Minimum Permissions Only

EarthOS declares internet access and standard desktop app permissions. It requests no camera, microphone, contacts, or location permission. Because it runs as a desktop shell it reads your Start menu to list your programs, the open window list so the taskbar can switch between them, the sound and display controls, and the wireless networks in range so it can rejoin ones you have already saved. All of that is read and used on your device.

File Access

Only when you choose to open, save, or download a file. There is no background scanning.

These providers have their own privacy policies covering the requests they receive. We have no agreement with them about you, receive nothing back from them about you, and never send them anything you create in the app.

EarthOS is a general-purpose desktop utility. It is not directed to children under 13 and does not collect any data from any user.

If this policy changes, we will update the version and effective date. Any changes will remain consistent with our core principle: Your data stays on your device.
