1. Overview

NexusOS is developed by Hasnain Studio X with a local-first, privacy-first design philosophy.

  • We do not collect personal data.
  • We do not run analytics or telemetry of any kind.
  • We do not operate servers for this app.
  • We do not sell, share, or monetize user data.

All processing happens locally on your device. The one exception - an optional weather panel that is off by default - is disclosed in full in section 5.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

NexusOS does not collect, store, or send any of the following:

Personal Identity Data

No name, email, phone number, address, or identifiers.

Usage Data or Analytics

No telemetry, crash analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.

Your Files or Media

File and app names you search for are matched on your device only; file contents are never read or transmitted.

Sensitive System Data

No passwords, tokens, credentials, browsing history, or system logs.

Precise Location Data

No GPS is ever used. See section 5 for the one approximate-location exception.

We do not run servers, so nothing can be uploaded even by accident.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

App Settings

Your theme, pinned apps, panel layout, and preferences are saved locally at %LOCALAPPDATA%\NexusOS.

Quick Notes and Workspaces

Any notes or saved panel layouts you create stay on your device and are never transmitted.

Local Cache

Recent commands and session statistics stored locally and never transmitted.

Local Trial or Licence State

Managed entirely by the Microsoft Store. The app reads it locally; we receive nothing.

This data never leaves your device.

4. Microsoft Store Licensing

NexusOS is offered as a paid app with a Microsoft Store managed free trial. All licensing, payments, and transactions are handled exclusively by Microsoft.

  • We do not process payment information.
  • We do not store payment details.
  • We do not receive your Microsoft account information.

5. App Permissions and Network Access

Minimum Required Only

NexusOS requests only internetClient and full trust desktop access, used solely for the features below - never for data collection.

File and App Access

Reads your Start Menu shortcuts and searches your Documents, Desktop, Downloads, and Pictures folders by name only, to power search and launching. Nothing is read in the background.

On-Device System Readouts

CPU, memory, disk, network, and battery statistics are read directly from Windows for the diagnostic panels and are never transmitted anywhere.

Optional Weather Panel - Off by Default

The weather panel is disabled until you turn it on in Settings. When enabled, NexusOS makes two network requests: one to a public IP-geolocation service to approximate your city, and one to the open-meteo.com public forecast service for current conditions. No account, precise GPS location, or personal identifier is sent. Turning the panel back off stops all such requests. This is the only feature in NexusOS that makes a background network request, and only when you opt in.

Now Playing

The Now Playing panel reads the title, artist, and artwork of media already playing on your PC through the built-in Windows media session API. This stays on-device and is never transmitted.

6. Children's Privacy

NexusOS is a general-purpose desktop utility. It is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from any user.

7. Policy Updates

If this policy changes, we will update the version and effective date. Any changes will remain consistent with our core principle: Your data stays on your device.
