Minimum Required Only
NexusOS requests only internetClient and full trust desktop access, used solely for the features below - never for data collection.
File and App Access
Reads your Start Menu shortcuts and searches your Documents, Desktop, Downloads, and Pictures folders by name only, to power search and launching. Nothing is read in the background.
On-Device System Readouts
CPU, memory, disk, network, and battery statistics are read directly from Windows for the diagnostic panels and are never transmitted anywhere.
Optional Weather Panel - Off by Default
The weather panel is disabled until you turn it on in Settings. When enabled, NexusOS makes two network requests: one to a public IP-geolocation service to approximate your city, and one to the open-meteo.com public forecast service for current conditions. No account, precise GPS location, or personal identifier is sent. Turning the panel back off stops all such requests. This is the only feature in NexusOS that makes a background network request, and only when you opt in.
Now Playing
The Now Playing panel reads the title, artist, and artwork of media already playing on your PC through the built-in Windows media session API. This stays on-device and is never transmitted.
