1. Overview

PlanetX: Earth Explorer is an interactive 3D globe of Earth. It is developed by Hasnain Studio X with a local-first, privacy-first design philosophy.

  • We do not collect personal data.
  • We do not require an account and there is no sign in.
  • We do not operate servers for our apps.
  • We do not sell, share, or monetize user data.

The 3D globe, country information, city markers, Earth facts and the offline world map are all rendered from data bundled inside the app and work fully offline. The only network requests the app ever makes are the live weather, place searches, and optional online map detail you ask for, described in section 4.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

PlanetX: Earth Explorer does not collect, store, or send any of the following:

Personal Identity Data

No name, email, phone number, address, or identifiers.

Usage Data or Analytics

No telemetry, crash analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.

Your Activity in the App

The countries you explore, quiz scores, and searches are never transmitted to us.

Sensitive System Data

No passwords, tokens, credentials, browsing history, or system logs.

Device Location

No GPS and no location permission. Your "home" place is simply a city name you type yourself, and it is saved only on your device.

We do not run servers, so nothing about you can end up with us even by accident.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

App Settings

Theme, accent, globe overlay choices and other preferences are saved locally on your device only.

Your Chosen Home Place

The city you type for local weather, with its coordinates, stays in the app's local settings file and never leaves your PC.

Quiz Scores

Your explorer quiz best score is stored locally and never transmitted.

Local Trial or Licence State

Managed entirely by the Microsoft Store. The app reads it locally; we receive nothing.

This data never leaves your device.

4. Network and Third Party Services

PlanetX: Earth Explorer makes three kinds of network requests, each only when you use the related feature:

  • Live weather: when you view weather for a place, the app sends only that place's coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather service (open-meteo.com) and shows the answer. No account, no API key, no identifiers, no cookies.
  • Place search: when you search for a city or set your home place, the app sends only the text you typed to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to find matching places.
  • Online map detail: when you choose an online map style (Streets or Satellite HD) on the globe or the world map, the app requests standard map image tiles for the area you are viewing from OpenStreetMap (streets) and Esri (satellite imagery). Only the coordinates of the map area are sent, and downloaded tiles are cached on your device so places you have already viewed keep working offline.

Nothing else is ever sent. No account, identifier, or personal data is attached to any request. If you never use weather, place search, or the online map styles, the app makes no network requests at all beyond the Microsoft Store licence check.

5. Microsoft Store Purchase and Trial

PlanetX: Earth Explorer is a paid app with a Microsoft Store managed free trial. All licensing, payments, and transactions are handled exclusively by Microsoft.

  • We do not process payment information.
  • We do not store payment details.
  • We do not receive your Microsoft account information.

6. App Permissions

Minimum Required Only

PlanetX: Earth Explorer runs as a standard desktop app with internet access. It requests no other capabilities: no location, no camera, no microphone, no file system scanning.

On-Device Rendering

The 3D globe, day and night line, moon phase, and all geography are computed and drawn entirely on your PC.

Network Access

Used only for the weather, place searches, and optional online map detail you ask for, and for the Microsoft Store licence check.

Optional Startup Entry

If you enable "Launch at startup", the app writes one per-user Windows registry entry. Turning the toggle off removes it.

7. Children's Privacy

PlanetX: Earth Explorer is a general audience educational and reference app. It is not directed to children under 13 and does not collect any data from any user.

8. Policy Updates

If this policy changes, we will update the version and effective date. Any changes will remain consistent with our core principle: Your data stays on your device.
